It is here! Ready or not, 2012! What an opportunity to grow the Kingdom of God. I am reminded of the athlete who disciplines his body to develop better physical endurance and alertness. The Word of God urges us, as believers, to discipline ourselves daily with a definite time set aside to be alone with God, to pray and read His Word. In our daily study of and meditation on the scriptures, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to conform our lives to the instructions of the Word of God. In my brief years of proclaiming the Word of God, I have watched many believers drift away from godly principles of the Bible. In this day of religious tolerance, it is not even popular to remind believers to follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Godliness with contentment is great gain. Godliness begins when we commit our lives to Jesus and He imparts His nature to us. Then we grow in godliness and are drawn away from the world and into a personal fellowship with the Lord of Glory. Our lives will follow either the Holy Spirit or self and the standards of the world. We cannot walk on two paths. There is but one safeguard against the enemy of our souls, that is getting to know all of the Word of God. I encourage you to hear the Word, read the Word, pray and fast. As we begin this new year, I believe the Holy Spirit will be poured out in an unprecedented measure. As 2012 begins, CD’s of the New Testament are available to listen to the Word. I am calling a 21-day Daniel Fast beginning January 2. On February 22, we will join millions around the world in 40-days of prayer entitled Seeking God for the City. May God bless each of you in 2012 with peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
